Podunk U: About the comic

A Basic Rundown

I started getting the idea for Podunk U sometime in high school. I wrote a few generic strips, mostly involving a much wilder, crazier state college like the kind you might expect to see in B-movies. Once I actually got to college and signed up to do a comic for the school paper, I ended up scrapping that idea and drawing (pun intended) from personal experience instead.

In December I was inspired by the webcomic Ozy and Millie to put my strip online. I changed a few things to keep it generic (not least of which the name), but otherwise what you see is mostly what gets printed in our school paper every week or so. In order to fill the inevitable gaps during weeks where papers wouldn't be printed (shortly after breaks, for instance) I added bonus strips as well.

Podunk U is roughly a weekly comic, updated Thursdays as of the 2006-2007 year. It's rarely topical or political in any way, because I know the site will still be around for a while and I want to make sure it's still relevant in years to come. Plus, there are enough people out there who are into making fun of current events and politicians, and they do a way better job of it than I could manage. On the rare occasion I do make an exception, it's usually in reference to something nerdy and involves Craig.

A valid question at this point would be whether or not I intend to keep writing this strip after I graduate. Which, barring a serious performance drop, should be this May. I really don't know at this point. I have another strip that runs twice a week and eats up more time than it probably should, and I tend to get inspiration from stuff that really happens, so there's a good chance I'll break it off not too long from now. But we'll see.
