Newest Strip: May 8, 2008

News from the front

April 3, 2008: This week's comic comes on the heels of a nation-wide controversy on the part of my college. It seems our school newspaper got in trouble a couple weeks back for publishing a (censored, mind you) photo containing male nudity. The administration had every known copy of the paper removed from the campus, and a Facebook group sprung up for people outraged at this action. As it turned out, the whole affair did more harm than good: newspapers whole states away picked up the story, and the local "Action News" team even did a piece on it. (Incidentally the original version of the story, as it ran in our local newspaper, can be found here. So this strip, which indeed ran in our school paper on Tuesday without a hitch, ended up being kind of a "Yank THIS!" statement, even though it wasn't intended that way (I was inspired by a picture I found on the Internet, in fact).

February 21, 2008: What's all this, then? Do I not have a new strip up, yet again? Indeed. Is it because I spent the time I should have been writing comics redesigning the website instead? Correct. Am I a lazy crap-for-crap who should have allotted time for both tasks in the first place? Affirmative. Do you not care, because the site finally looks half decent and displays correctly in Internet Explorer? ... Guys?

September 27, 2007: There's no strip this week. Why? A couple reasons. One, because I wanted to get the first two strips posted as early as possible, I actually put them online before they went in the school paper. This is a bad habit to get into, and if my editor found out she might just have my head. Skipping a week puts me back on track without having to come up with a strip I wouldn't want the paper to print. Two, Episode Four of "KRAP News at Eleven" is up and I wanted to point that out in a prominent place. Where the strip used to be seems like a good enough spot. >;)

September 20, 2007: Truth be told, I was (and am, as far as submitting this to the school paper is concerned) saving this strip for later in the semester. And yes, I did have a comic close enough to finished that I probably could have posted it under deadline. (Two actually; the first one I realized at the last minute wouldn't have worked until maybe mid-October. I'll explain when I post it.) But it just so happened that a guy down the hall from us foolishly challenged my roommate to a Guitar Hero II match. So I got to watch this foob get slaughtered at "YYZ", "Freebird", and "Madhouse" while I drew what will now be next week's strip. Since I already had this strip inked, scanned, and ready to go, I figured it would be a fitting tribute.

September 6, 2007: Welcome back, everybloody. You might have noticed some minor changes in some of the pages—or more likely, the lack of changes on others. The reason for this is that I'm trying out some new stylistic ideas and won't be able to apply them to every page until I can track down or code some kind of auto page generator like the ones all the fancy-pants webcomics use. Meanwhile bear with the inconsistency. I'm planning on completely recoding the site (yet again!) anyway.

April 5, 2007: Hey everyone! Guess what. After months and months of non-work and indecision, I've decided to finally bite the bullet and open an online store providing strip-related merchandise. Why? Mostly because I can, really; nobody's yet written to me expressing interested in buying Podunk stuff. Anyhow, I'd like to hear what you, the reader, are interested in me putting there. Head over to CaféPress, the site I'll be using to print and sell this crap, and browse their list of available product types to get an idea of what my boundaries are. (Sorry, no life-sized suitable-for-making-out-with Joe dolls on the horizon so far as I know.) And then send your suggestions to yours truly.
